Typically, a hydraulic tank is used in systems that have multiple heating circuits (e.g., for convector heaters and underfloor heating) with different requirements, and each of them has a separate pump. Modern installations are also increasingly using various heat sources, such as an automatic pellet boiler, or a gas boiler and a heat pump, etc. The installation is such that each system can operate independently, and the pumps do not interfere with each other's operation.
Hydraulic tanks have a very simple design and control device, but they play an extremely important role in heating systems. It is a closed space, usually made of steel, to which the connecting sockets of the primary circuit (heat source/sources) are welded on one side, and the secondary circuit (installation side) on the other. The primary side supplies heat to the hydraulic tank, while the secondary side is its receiver.
